Responsibilities:

Working with our Landscape Maintenance Foreman, you will help organize and oversee daily tasks for the Maintenance team, provide support and encouragement to team members, promote team development through the Creative Roots training program, and learn to think and act like an owner using our unique Open Book Management style.

Ideally you have the following experience, knowledge or skills:

  • Horticultural Certificate or 6 months of industry experience
  • IPM Certificate (with pesticide dispenser's license)
  • WCB Occupational First Aid Certificate (Level 1)
  • Valid BC Driver's License and clean driver's abstract
  • Full service lawn care
  • Full service shrub bed maintenance
  • Maintenance and care for:  Annuals, Perennials, Trees (deciduous and evergreen), Hedges, Specimen trees and plants
  • Pruning
  • Cultivating and weeding various shrub beds
  • Irrigation system maintenance and installation
  • Maintenance of all types of water features
  • Maintenance of low voltage landscape lighting
  • Physically fit with a keen attention to detail
  • Desire and initiative to grow within your position and the Creative Roots team
  • Understand the tools and equipment needed each day and help ensure everything is onsite when needed and in good working condition
  • Help ensure the team completes work on time and efficiently each day
  • Act as a source of guidance and motivation to all team members

This is what you'd be doing on a Daily Basis:

  • Work with the Maintenance team to maintain beautiful gardens for our customers
  • Prepare chemicals and load tools and equipment on and off trailers and trucks
  • Assist the Maintenance Leader in ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently
  • Occasionally fill out work orders for small jobs you are undertaking
  • Use and teach proper equipment and safety procedure practices
  • Use the Creative Roots system of maintenance
  • Carry out and teach team members the proper techniques to weed, cultivate, deadhead, dig, lift, carry, wheelbarrow, etc.

Total compensation:

All of this responsibility comes with a great compensation package that includes a stake in our Profit Share Plan along with a benefits package. You can expect : Full time 30 - 45 hours per week. Responsibilities:

Working with our Maintenance Client/Team Manager, you will assist in the administration and scheduling of duties for your Maintenance team daily and weekly, promote team development through the comprehensive Creative Roots training program, and learn to think and act like an owner using our unique Open Book Management style.

Experience, knowledge and skills you'll need:

  • 3 or more years industry experience
  • Horticultural Certificate is preferred
  • IPM Certificate preferred (with applicator's license)
  • WCB First Aid Certificate preferred
  • Valid BC Driver's License and clean driver's abstract
  • Maintenance and care for:  Lawns, Shrub Beds, Water Features, Irrigation Systems, Low Voltage Lighting Systems, Annuals, Specimen trees and plants, Perennials, Trees (deciduous and evergreen), Hedges
  • The ability to ensure all products, materials, tools, and equipment required to complete daily tasks are loaded or delivered
  • Inspect all work being done daily to ensure it is of an acceptable quality
  • Safety in the workplace
  • Time management
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • An understanding of the order in which all tasks need to be carried out to finish a job quickly and efficiently, and the scheduling of each task appropriately
  • Proven leadership skills

Icing on the Cake:

  • Experience working locally with Zone 5a and 6a plants
  • CIT Level 2 Certification
  • Hardscape knowledge and/or experience

You can expect:  Seasonal - Approx March 1 - November 30th - As a Foreman this may extend at either end of the season.  Full time 45-55 hours per week.  Competitive wages based on value and attitude you bring to the company.  Typical range may be $26 - $31 per hour for this position.

Working with our Landscape Project Manager, you will handle and oversee administration and scheduling duties for a construction team, provide support and encouragement to team members, promote team development through the comprehensive Creative Roots training program, and learn to think and act like an owner using our unique Open Book Management style.

Must have the following experience, knowledge or skills:

At least 2 years of formal training or 5 years experience in the industry Must hold a valid BC Driver's License with a Heavy Trailer Endorsement First Aid Certificate Proven leadership skills The ability to read a plan and do take-offs for materials Able to run and manage crew of 3 or 4 workers through the installation of custom, high-end Landscape Construction installations from start to finish Inspect all work being done to ensure it is of an acceptable quality Ensuring all aspect of the site activities are done so in a safe manner

Complete installation of:

  • Paving Stones & Hydro pressed slabs
  • Flagstone Installation
  • Residential drainage systems
  • Natural stone rock wall installation (machine built and hand stacked)
  • All types of water features
  • Low voltage landscape lighting layout and installation
  • Irrigation system layout and installation
  • Softscapes

Operation of all landscape construction equipment:

  • Skid Steer
  • Excavator
  • Plate Tamper
  • Jumping Jack
  • Transit Level
  • Brick Saw
  • Cut-off Saw
  • Etc.

  • Effectively performing and training team members using Creative Roots methods
  • Helping the Landscape Leader with prioritizing, organizing and performing daily tasks
  • Using and teaching proper use of equipment and safety procedure
  • Assisting the Landscape leader in delegating tasks to ensure the team is efficient in completing their daily tasks
  • Occasionally filling out work orders for small jobs you are undertaking
  • Digging, pick axing, lifting, carrying, pushing wheel barrows, etc.
