Landscaping For A Cause at Arion Therapeutic Farm

By Castanet Staff

The staff at Creative Roots Landscaping gave up their Saturday to do what they do best.

Starting at 8 a.m., the team pulled together to give the folks at Arion Therapeutic Farm in Southeast Kelowna a helping hand.

The one-day project included constructing a small rock wall, grading and laying turf, modifying irrigation, planting, installing a brick walkway and a crushed rock patio for improved wheelchair access.

The philosophy of Arion Farm is to create a safe and caring environment that supports the development of new skills, increased independence, explores new opportunities and creates new abilities through recreation and equine-facilitated therapy.

Students have the opportunity to work on essential skills such as core body strength, increased concentration, communication, trust and independence.

“It had been six years since we last did an in-kind give-back at Arion Farms, so when they called to ask if we could help again we were more than happy to,” said Creative Roots owner Ryan Markewich. “Our team has been chomping at the bit to get their hands dirty on a local project as part of our annual Give Back to the community.”

Creative Roots has helped many local organizations by giving cash and in-kind donations that value more than $110,000 since the inception of their company wide Employee Give Back Program in 2007.

Employees donate one hour of pay each week to the program.
