Creative Roots Landscaping Lends A Hand To Arion Therapeutic Farm

05-Aug-2010
KELOWNA, BC – (August 5, 2010)  All hands from Creative Roots Landscaping will be getting even dirtier this Saturday, August 7th  starting at 8:00 am as the team descends upon Arion Therapeutic Farm in Southeast Kelowna (2457 Saucier Road) for an old-fashioned work party.  From constructing horse shelters and fixing fences to making proper wheelchair paths, new irrigation and cleanup of the gardens, the team is ready to go.  Since 1994, Creative Roots Landscaping has become one of the leading landscape companies in Kelowna. “With continuous innovation, thinking outside the shovel, and by giving our clients an exceptional service experience, we set the standard within our industry”, says Creative Roots C.I.O Ryan Markewich.

The philosophy of Arion Farm is to create a safe and caring environment that supports the development of new skills, increased independence, explores new opportunities and creates new abilities through recreation & equine facilitated therapy. The emotional, social, developmental and physical benefits are limitless. Students have the opportunity to work on essential skills such as core body strength, increased concentration, communication, trust and independence.  The staff of experienced professionals, Behavioral Interventionist and Registered Nurse can create an individualized program to assist in the development of any challenge, and also offer individualized tutoring, programs for children and youth groups, Career Discovery programs and parent education evenings.

“When we learned of the Farm and how much help they need just to keep things running, it was a no-brainer for our team”, says Creative Roots’ Director of Marketing & Administration, Tammy Arishenkoff, who also volunteers her own time to the Farm.  “Our team has been chomping at the bit to get their hands dirty on a local project as part of our annual Give Back to the community.  Our Open Book Management style really engages our team and brings out the best in us.”  This work party would not be possible without the support of some very generous suppliers:

  • Lake Country Compost Distributors Ltd. - Nature's Gold mulch
  • Deli City Cafe & Catering - volunteer lunch
  • Kettle Valley Stone Company - rock for wheelchair paths
  • A.G. Appel Enterprises Ltd. - rock for wheelchair paths
  • Rinas Fabrications - weather-resistant picnic table for parents' seating area
  • Eco-Wise Watersystems - irrigation supplies

Creative Roots has helped a number of local organizations so far this year with their monthly Employee Give Back, which has every single team member donating one hour of their pay each week for the company’s Weekly Huddle:

  • Central Okanagan Search and Rescue ($1,000)
  • Kelowna Branch of the BC SPCA ($600)
  • Kelowna Women’s Shelter ($1,500)
  • Kelowna Community Food Bank – Lunch Money Day ($300)

For 2010, Creative Roots is targeting $25,000.00 in Give Back, and the work party at Arion will come in at a value of close to $10,000.00.  If anyone would like to visit the Farm on Saturday and drop off a donation by cash or cheque, you are more than welcome.  For more information about Arion Farm and its programs, you can contact:
