We wouldn’t be where were are today without all the great people over the years
Many people have come and gone during our 20 years in business. Whether or not they have moved on or are still part of our team, I am always aware that without them, the experiences we've had wouldn't exist. I owe many thank-you's to all these characters!!
- Ryan Markewich C.I.O (Chief Idea Officer)
Below you will find members of our current team. Don't be fooled by the light hearted bio on each of them. All the work you see within our website has been done by real people just like them.
Ryan is our almighty leader and the hardest working man you will ever meet. Nobody epitomizes Creative Roots Culture and Principles more than the head honcho. A fun fact about Ryan is that he can win a game of Connect 4 in only 3 moves.
Matt has been with Creative roots for longer than we can remember and is the Landscape Construction Manager. He is originally from Muskoka, Ontario and completed a degree in golf course management from Durham College. Matt also recently achieved his rifle and handgun licensing, so watch out!
Shaun is our longest tenured employee. During the past decade of working at Creative Roots he has also completed a Bachelor of Education degree with a specialization in Elementary, as well as travels through Europe and Australia. Shaun is a Construction Site Leader and gives out free hugs to anyone who needs one.
Colette made the trek from Vancouver to Kelowna to be our Office Human a few years back. She and Newman handle the crazy rag tag bunch of coworkers at Creative Roots. If not there, find her running trails, pumping iron, or hiking with her man Ray in the great outdoors.
Using her background in Horticulture from Kwantlen University, Ran has taken the bull by the horns to become our Maintenance Leader! Her immense knowledge, tenacious work ethic and funky hairdo make her an asset on any landscape.
Jessica hails from Cochrane, Alberta and is a very talented horse trainer. She loves to be outside in nature and since moving to Kelowna she knows that the grass is greener in the Okanagan.
Tyson, who is a direct descendant of our great leader Ryan, started working full time in our Maintenance Division after finishing high school. His hobbies include video production and imitating cartoon character voices...oh, and annoying his dad.
Zach is our resident spark-plug. The only team member who will run 10 km after a 10 hour work day. The energy and enthusiasm he brings to the team day to day can be infectious to everyone around him. With a Horticulture degree from Olds College where he majored in Landscape Management, Zach is smart too!
Bryan joined our team after working for twenty plus years for a different landscape company and has been a valued addition. What he lacks in height, he makes up for in old man strength. Although it may just be an urban legend, rumour is he has had a moustache since the day of his birth.
As the youngest member of the Markewich clan, Jacob has a keen interest in the family business. When he is not mowing and pruning he can be found dominating on the soccer pitch or pranking his co-workers.
Zach is welcomed addition to the Creative Roots team for his impeccable work ethic and dashing good looks. What he loves best about landscaping is the people he works with. What we love best about Zach is that he is soft yet very fierce.
After working in an office environment for too many years, Walter is now relishing working outdoors on our Maintenance team. Starting his second career with Creative Roots has allowed him to enjoy the hot summers that Kelowna is famous for.
Sam brings a strong background in landscaping over from her home province of Manitoba. She is an unbelievable team player who is always striving to grow in our industry.
Jessie is our part time plant guru. Although she is mostly working behind the scenes, her role keeps our nursery happy and healthy, allowing the rest of the team to focus on providing excellent service to our clients.
Kyle came to us with horticulture in his blood, Rockstar dreams, and an awesome van! ... in search of his happy place. His previous experience, big smile, big heart, amazing work ethic, and Tim's coffee makes him a welcome addition to the maintenance team.
We are looking for talent
