Lawn & Irrigation Leader

This position reports to:  Director of Beautiful Yards

Positions reporting to this Position:  Lawn/Irrigation Crew Member

Ultimate Goal of this Position:  The lawn is the first thing of which Creative Roots' performance is judged. It must be green, healthy and well trimmed every week.  Help make Creative Roots an industry leader using current technical knowledge to create and maintain healthy lawns. To implement quality and skill development to ensure customer satisfaction.

Must Have Qualifications: 

• IPM Pesticide Applicator and Dispenser License
• 2 years relevant industry experience
• WCB First Aid Certificate
  
• Level 1 Irrigation Certification
• Valid BC Driver's License with clean Driver's Abstract
  
• Understanding of all aspects of lawn care (mowing, trimming, Bbowing, Aarating, power raking, topdressing, fertilizing, pest and disease control, watering needs, proper drainage, etc)
• Understanding of all aspects of Irrigation Systems (repairs, installations, troubleshooting, irrigation timers, watering schedules and needs)
• Fit enough to perform labor intensive work for a full shift

This is what you'd be doing:

On a Daily Basis -

• Hosting daily 5 to 15 minute huddle to discuss the daily "what’s up".
• Training the lawn/irrigation staff in effective, safe and profitable work habits.
• Pick up daily work schedule.
• Provide direction to team specific to lawn care as well as customer requests.
• Effectively use and train staff on all equipment related to the industry (power rake, aerator, rotary & reel style mowers, line trimmers, blowers, compressors, spray applicators, fertilizer spreaders etc.).
• Keeping the tools, truck and trailers organized, clean and ready for the next day.
• Performing the following services spring start-ups, continued seasonal maintenance, renovations, repair and winterizing of lawns.
• Irrigation services include spring start-ups, continued seasonal maintenance, renovations, repair and winterizing of, irrigation and low voltage lighting systems.
• Pleasantly communicating with clients to educate them about their needs and our way of delivering service.
• Complete daily summary sheet and weekly time sheet for team members.
• Provide support to the Creative Roots Gardening team by assisting with heavy lifting, hedge shaping, tree removal etc.
• Get your hands dirty while overseeing your team performing Creative Roots lawn and irrigation services.
• Prioritizing, organizing and performing daily tasks for yourself and additional Creative Roots members.

On a Weekly Basis -

• Prepare weekly work schedule on last day of work week.
• Hand in your team’s weekly time sheet on time and complete.
• Contribute to weekly meeting.

Additional -

• Contribute to the monthly, quarterly and annual planning meetings.
• Participate in hiring process.

This is what you can expect from CREATIVE ROOTS:

• A seasonal position 40+/- hours per week Monday – Friday (occasional Saturday) for approximately 36 weeks per year weather permitting beginning approximately March 1.
• An hourly wage of $17.20 - $20.05 per hour plus overtime compensation, benefits and bonuses paid out every 90 days.
