Landscape Maintenance Technician
This Position Reports To: Director of Beautiful Yards
Positions reporting to this Position: None
Ultimate Goal of this Position: Make Creative Roots an industry leader using your technical knowledge to create healthy gardens. To assist in the development of skills and knowledge base for all crew members.
Must Have Qualifications:
- Horticultural certificate or 2 years industry experience
- IPM certificate (with pesticide dispenser’s license)
- Valid BC driver license and clean driver’s abstract, and bondable
- Must have complete Creative Roots Training Program
- Capable of leading one to two people in completing small tasks with loose supervision
Working on the business (strategic work):
Ensure policies and procedures are correctly carried out, and to keep current on IPM and applicators standards.
This is what you'd be doing:
On a Daily Basis -
- Contribute to the 5 – 15 minute morning huddle.
- Working with the Maintenance team to maintain beautiful gardens for our customers.
- Prepare chemicals and load trailer and truck.
- Use and teach proper equipment and safety procedure practices.
- Use Creative Roots system of maintenance.
- Carry out and teach team members the proper techniques to weed, cultivate, deadhead, dig, lift, carry, wheel barbarrel, etc.
- Load tools and equipment on and off trailers and trucks.
- Assisting the maintenance leader in ensuring all task are completed efficiently.
- Occasionally filling out work orders for small jobs you are undertaking.
On a Weekly Basis -
- Contributing to weekly meeting.

- Take instruction from aintenance leader.
- Desire to learn the industry and progress within the Creative Roots team.
- Teach all team members proper equipment and maintenance procedures.
- Ask questions when needed.
- Conduct yourself in a professional manner.
- Bring needed provisions for work every day.
- Report all injuries and notify leader of past injury concerns.
- You will achieve 80% billable efficiency on a daily basis.
- Document all chemical use.
How you'll know you're doing a great job:
This is what you can expect from Creative Roots:
- A seasonal position with 40 +/- hours Monday - Friday (occasional Saturday) of 40 weeks per year weather permitting beginning approximately March 1 and ending when the ground is frozen.
- A wage of $15.30 - $17.20 per hour plus overtime compensation, benefits (upon completion of probation period) and bonuses paid out every 90 days.
